#97. Edgemoor Park

Edgemoor Park was one of the parks I spent my summers at growing up.  The pool was always popular and the playground consisted of an amazing wood structure.  I wish we had pictures of how it was before the new playground – it was amazing.

Features:

  • Playground Base:
  • Picnic Tables
  • Rec Center
  • Tennis Courts
  • Basketball Court
  • Baseball Diamond
  • Skate Park
  • Bathrooms: Yes, Inside the Rec Center

The skate park was pretty cool.  It was dedicated in the memory of Ryan Woodward, a teenager who was struck and killed by a car on the way to the skate park in 2009.  We loved the memorial bench – how fitting for the memory of a teen who loved skateboarding!

We had a blast playing at the skate park.  We had a 'who's bottom goes the furthest' contest with the neighborhood kids.  I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

The park was very busy on this beautiful evening.  It was probably one of the most popular parks we've been to on our adventure.  We had a great time!

Mom Tips:  This is a beautiful park, and really close to the Rockwell Branch Library.  It'd be a great place to have a picnic, play and library afternoon!  The rec center also has a lot of great classes, check them out here:  http://www.wichita.gov/ParkandRec/Pages/default.aspx

Kid Tips:  The boys keep asking to go back to the skate park; they had so much fun!
