County #5: Meade (Part 2 – Fowler)

We had so much fun in Meade County, I decided to break it up into two posts.

Fowler, a small town of about 600 people, has a fantastic park and a rare and unusual swimming pool.  The pool is an oval shape and the deep section is in the middle, complete with diving platform.  I’ve never seen anything like it!

Unfortunately we arrived after the pool had been closed for the season, but found some great pictures of the pool in use at http://www.getruralkansas.org.  According to their website, the pool was “built in 1937 by the CCC and WPA and is currently on the National Register of Historic Places.”

Fowler City Park was revamped in 2016 as part of the Kansas Community Development Block Grant  program, and it’s amazing.  It has a great mix of new and classic equipment. We could not get enough of this park!
