It’s been fun introducing Andy, Michelle and the boys to parks I grew up visiting. But this time Andy got to show us a park he grew up exploring. Cottonwood Park is a Wichita Wild Habitat Area in southeast Wichita. It can be accessed through two entrances, one at 1300 S. Armour and one at the end of Broadmoor Court.
The Gypsum Creek Bicycle Trail runs along the side of the Armour entrance. It’s a 6.5 mile trail that follows the Gypsum Creek. For more about the bike trail, go to TrailLink’s site: https://www.traillink.com/trail/gypsum-creek-bike-path/
Features:
- Nature Trail
- Bathroom: None
- Park Benches
Mom Tips: Bug spray, long pants or socks, and more bug spray! We hiked through the wooded area, and I was not properly attired for the adventure. Walking shoes and jeans would have been a good idea. Since the Gypsum Creek Bicycle Trail goes past more than one park, we could have started a ride at Cottonwood. Maybe next time!
Kid Tips: “There were cool rocks! We found lots of neat stuff on our adventure.” – Weston
