Garvey Park marked our 68th park! Monica Castro, reporter from KAKE, joined us on our visit. We'll post the link to the interview when it's available. So exciting!
Garvey Park is nestled along the river in southeast Wichita. GPS is a little weird on this one. Take 135 south to Hydraulic, north one block to Fortuna. Take the first left. You'll pass Wells and Greiffenstein, a USD 259 elementary and middle school that share a building. You'll also pass a community garden called Garden of Eatin' (not to be confused with the amazing Wichita restaurant with the same name).
There's river access and a canoe drop and a nice sandbar to play on.
Features:
- Playground Base: Rubber

Mom Tips: Holy cow… the stickers were awful at this park. Definitely stay on the sidewalk and wear close-toed shoes. If you go out to the sandbar keep your shoes on there too (lots of broken glass).
Kid Tips: "The sandbar is so cool! Can we come back with a canoe?" – Weston
