For our 69th park, we visited Friendship Park in the Hilltop Neighborhood, between Bluffview and Terrace (near Oliver and Harry). We parked in the Head Start parking lot off of Terrace Drive and began our visit. Unfortunately, first things we noticed were the amount of trash in the park and a small pack of little dogs roaming the area. The dogs didn't approach us, but we thought it was worth noting.
This park is rich in Wichita history, as it was part of the original Hilltop Manor (war-time housing project). According to the Wichita Parks and Rec website, in 1941 the project built 600 homes in 100 days.
Features:
- Playground Base: Sand
- Picnic Tables
- Park Benches
- Softball Diamond
- Bathrooms: None
Mom Tips: the amount of trash around the park was unfortunate, but the worst part was the amount of glass in the sand. Be careful with your little ones and don't let them take their shoes off. It's such a shame, this park had great equipment and has the potential to be a great place for neighborhood kids to visit.
Kid Tips: Weston liked the layout of the 'obstacle course' equipment, while Sully had a blast on the rope towers.
